The Australian Trellis Door Company (ATDC) has recently installed its latest heavy-duty roller shutters at the prestigious Moriah College, a leading private school in Sydney’s eastern suburbs. These heavy duty security roller shutters are large and can span a wide space.

RS6 High Density Security Roller Shutters
These quality RS6 high-density roller shutters are complete with slimline overhead pelmet boxes and span six metres in one section without the need for unwieldy removable mullions.
Working closely with project managers Northcliff Construction Group, ATDC installed these heavy duty security roller shutters with their 77mm gauge heavy profile in a white powder-coated finish to blend in with the surrounding décor of the school premises. (A full powder-coat range is available to match the Dulux range.)
Advanced Features and Safety Precautions
Electrically operated with secure key switch operation, ATDC installed parachute safety brakes as an operational precaution given the large sizes of the shutters in a school location.
The shutters can also be remote-controlled for ease of convenience where this is a requirement by utilising high-tech satellite motors, satellite transmitters, and receivers. The shutters were installed with partly solid slats as well as some punched slats in order to achieve the necessary ventilation and free flow of air required for the application. Read on for further technical information.
Unique Advantages of the RS6 Shutters
ATDC’s RS6 High Density security shutter is the only security roller shutter on the Australian market with an enclosed pelmet box that can span such wide expanses in a single span. This is both an operational and cost-saving advantage for the customer. It also saves the customer from the cost of building in expensive bulkheads to conceal the otherwise unsightly open overhead roll. For further applications, read the article.
The Australian Trellis Door Company (ATDC) has successfully installed its double-walled extruded aluminium security roller shutters at Centenary Park Pavilion, a Glen Eira City Council managed property in Melbourne’s Bentleigh East. These Strong security roller shutters have many benefits.

Project Specifications
ATDC’s security roller shutters were specified by Mantric Architecture and were installed over both doorways and windows to the Pavilion as both a security device and as a means to protect the glass windows from the possibility of being damaged through impact from balls from the sports ground.
Compliance Requirements
Mantric Architecture had certain complying requirements before specifying ATDC’s RS3 shutters. The RS3 was capable of meeting all Mantric’s requirements as listed below:
1. They had to provide maximum strength and durability; the shutters are a double wall extrusion with a 44mm blade and heavy-duty extruded side rails to contain and secure the shutters.
2. The security roller shutters had to have the slimmest possible overhead pelmet boxes.
3. Shutters installed on corners were to have removable corner mullions.
4. They had to be electronically operated with group controls to permit multiple shutters to operate sequentially in banks or individually.
5. For access control purposes, these shutters had to have the ability to interface with Council’s internal computer security system, enabling their connection to the system management software used by Council.
6. The shutters needed to be powder-coated to match the colour scheme of the aluminium window frames at the Pavilion. (For further information on the RS3’s technical features, see ATDC’s website at RS3 Technical Features)
Wide Range of Applications
The Australian Trellis Door Company (ATDC) security roller shutters have been widely specified on Council Pavilions across Victoria for the very reasons listed above. They are also suitable for securing commercial and industrial applications, retail shopfronts and shopping centres, banks, medical centres, reception areas, canteens, bar counters, commercial and government buildings. They are also ideal for securing residential properties, particularly for windows, sliding doors, French doors, and patio doors.

Yes, specific high-density models like the RS6 roller shutter made by the Australian Trellis Door Company are engineered to span up to 5.5 metres in a single section for electric operation, eliminating the need for unwieldy removable mullions while maintaining a slimline overhead profile.
Beyond securing against break-ins and vandalism, these shutters are constructed from robust materials that offer excellent insulation to help manage internal temperatures and provide a physical barrier against weather, dust, and vermin.
All ATDC roller shutters are custom-made to fit the exact dimensions and operational requirements of each site, whether for commercial shopfronts, school pavilions, or high-security areas like pharmacies.
For installations where the shutter must wrap around a corner, removable corner mullions can be utilised to maintain structural security while allowing for flexible opening designs.
